6-year-old Girl Raped in MPs Damoh District, Her eyes damaged by Accused
An unidentified person in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh allegedly raped a 6-year-old girl, who also damaged her eyes, a police official said Thursday. The incident took place on Wednesday evening at a village in Jabera tehsil, when the minor was playing with other children outside her home.

Victim at critical condition
At the time, an unidentified person took the girl to an isolated place and raped her, "Police District Superintendent Hemant Chauhan said. He also said the victim was found this morning in an abandoned room near her home, about 55 km from the district headquarters. We found the accused harmed her eyes, and also caused injuries on her face. We rushed the victim into critical condition at a hospital in Jabera tehsil. From there, she was taken to Jabalpur hospital where doctors are operating on her eyes, "Chauhan said.
Asked if her eyes had been completely harmed in the incident, Chauhan said the minor's eyes were swollen so severely that he could not check the retinas, according to a local doctor.
Police have launched a search to catch the accused, who he said is suspected of being a local resident.
