A great loss to the World of Cinema and Theatre - PM condoles Irrfan Khans Demise

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the death of actor Irrfan Khan adding that his sudden demise is a loss to the world of cinema.

PM Narendra Modi took Twitter and said that he will be remembered for his versatile performances across different mediums. PM Modi also added that his thoughts are with the family, friends, and admirers of Irrfan Khan and he prays that the actor's soul rests in peace.

Also, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his anguish over the sudden demise of actor Irrfan Khan and said Irrfan was a versatile actor whose art had earned global fame and recognition.

Irrfan Khan passed away at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. In 2018, Irrfan had announced that he was suffering from neuroendocrine tumour, a type of cancer. He had undergone treatment in the UK and had returned to India in 2019. Irrfan's mother Saeeda Begum passed away in Jaipur a few days ago. But Irrfan Khan was not able to attend the funeral.

Irrfan Khan's last movie was 'Angrezi Medium.' The movie hit the screens days before the COVID-19 lockdown was announced and was later released on an OTT platform. His most famous films include the Academy Award-nominated Salaam Bombay!, Maqbool (2004), Paan Singh Tomar (2011), The Lunchbox (2013), Haider (2014), Gunday (2014), Piku (2015) and Talvar (2015) and Hindi Medium (2017).
