COVID-19 Cases Rise to 89 Bengal, West Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals for the Production of Hydroxychloroquine

The number of positive Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has increased to 89, while the number of deaths remains 5. "The audit committee confirms whether the deaths are due to Covid-19 or any other reason, only then do we announce the deaths," said West Bengal Chief Secretary Rajiv Sinha.

Corona update 

The Chief Secretary further stated that there are five government and two private laboratories in which a total of 2095 cases have been tested, while 25600 ppe kits, 1371550 masks, and 46251 liters of hand sanitizers have been distributed.

The number of government quarantine centers has been increased by 20, up to 582. The total number of people released from government quarantine was 450, while 113 were added to the hospital quarantine list. Of the 55498 people who were in quarantine at home, 1388 were cleared, while 44474 are still under quarantine at home.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals in West Bengal received clearance from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) and the State Drug Control Directorate for the manufacture of hydroxychloroquine — which is being used as a preventive drug for Novel Coronavirus, which is in demand all over the world as it is said to be effective in reducing the recovery time for Covid-19 patients.
