175 COVID-19 cases in Karnataka

The spike in numbers comes amid reports that the 21-day lockdown period, scheduled to end on April 14, is likely to be extended as concerns over Karnataka and the rest of India about the spread of novel coronavirus still lurk high.

S.Suresh Kumar, Karnataka's minister of primary and secondary education, said the government has yet to decide on whether the lockout should be extended at least to regions that have registered a significant number of positive cases in Covid-19.

"Still no decision has been taken by the government," Kumar said on Tuesday. His statements contradict his cabinet colleague K.Sudhakar's claim that the lockdown would be extended by at least two weeks in hotspots. Protection Status
