Bench Pressing a 50kg Barbell Underwater.

Greg Wittstock, from the US bench-pressed a 50 kg barbell 62 times underwater breaking the Guinness World Record. Greg broke the record of 42 continuous bench presses by doing 20 extra to keep his record strong and long. Talking about his record, Greg said that his experience with free diving and lifting weights helped him beat the challenge.

“It's super weird trying to lift balancing weights underwater AND, of course, holding your breath!” he added.

This is not the first time Greg tried this challenge as he had already attempted breaking the record in September 2019. He was disqualified for not extending his hands fully. This time, Greg paid attention to all technical details and broke the record.

Greg completed the task in a lake in St. Charles, Illinois. The video capture of the whole journey of him diving to the bottom of the shallow lake, starting to bench press and come out victorious, has been shared by The Guinness World Records.
