HP to give Rs 50 Lakh to Kin of officials, excluding health workers, if they die due to COVID-19

The government of Himachal Pradesh would pay Rs 50 lakh as an ex-gratia to the families of state-run officials (except health workers) if they catch the infection and suffer from it.

HP Government to pay 50 Lakhs

The government of Himachal Pradesh would pay Rs 50 lakh as an ex-gratia to the families of state-run officials (except health workers) if they catch the infection and die as a consequence. "Himachal Pradesh government will pay Rs 50 lakh as an ex-gratia out of HPSDMA COVID-19 State Disaster Response Fund to the family of officials working in state government (except health workers), if they contract the infection and die due to it, amid COVID-19 outbreak," Chief Minister Office said in a statement on Thursday.

"Ministry of Health, Government of India has already announced insurance scheme for health workers fighting COVID-1 9," the statement added. Earlier, the central government had declared that any health professional who meets with some incident while managing COVID-19 patients would be paid for under the insurance scheme by a sum of Rs 50 lakh. The system would include all government health facilities, fitness centers, and the Centre's hospitals, as well as provinces.

In India, a total of 21,700 confirmed coronavirus cases were registered. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said Thursday that 4,325 citizens who were COVID-19 positive had healed or migrated. Owing to coronavirus 686 people lose their lives.
