L&T Migrant workers protest against non-payment of wages

1600 migrant workers of L&T in Telangana protested against the Construction giant Larsen & Turbo Ltd (L&T) against the non-payment of wages.

Earlier, L&T said that it has set aside Rs.500 crore per month to support its 1,60,000 contract workers amid reports of an exodus of migrant workers for their homes during the 21-day lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The company also said it has maintained hygiene and waste management and initiated catering and preventive measures such as social distancing at the labour camps.

L&T has donated Rs150 crore towards PM CARES Fund, set up to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The company also remitted wages to workmen and contractors into their bank accounts.
