Lockdown 3.0: Liquor shops to open outside Pune Containment Zones

Liquor shops to open in Pune.

Liquor shops in Pune district will open from Monday after being shut down for over six weeks. However, those located in containment zones in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities will be barred, officials said.

According to the revised guidelines released for the lockdown 3.0 of two weeks, the state government kept out the worst affected cities by COVID-19. Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Mumbai, and Malegaon were the cities out of relaxation given to other cities classified under red, orange, and green zones to open non-essentials commodities’ shops. However, on Sunday, the revised guidelines granted relaxation to these cities as well as keeping out only ‘demarcated containment zones’ in these cities out of relaxation.

Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram confirmed that standalone liquor shops would be opened in Pune district apart from the ‘containment areas.’
