Maharashtra extends lockdown till April 30

The nationwide lockdown declared by PM Modi in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak is most likely to be extended beyond April 14, given the dramatic rise in Covid-19 cases and deaths across the nation over the past few weeks.

CMs have urged the PM to extend lockdown


The decision was taken Saturday after a video conference was held by PM Modi with the chief ministers of all the states and territories of the Union. Leaks suggested that an extension of the ongoing shutdown was "strongly supported" by at least ten Chief Ministers. Although some CMs have urged the PM to extend it "for the rest of April at least," others have recommended "caution" in case he chooses not to extend it.

Meanwhile, the death toll attributed to the novel Coronavirus rose to 239 and on Saturday, the number of cases in the world to 7,477. The number of reported cases of COVID-19 is 6,565, as many as 643 individuals have been cured and discharged. Protection Status
