One of the worst affected countries in the world, the UK is losing lots of lives every day due to COVID-19. Miss England 2019, Bhasha Mukherjee, decides to resume her service as a doctor to save people. She was in India for charity work when she realized she needed to get back home and serve her people.
She has also received messages from her former colleagues working at her old hospital in Boston, Eastern England, who told her the alarming situation at hospitals was overflowing with affected patients. On hearing this, she contacted the hospital’s management, telling them that she wanted to resume her work as a doctor.

India-origin Miss England 2019 said to CNN, “I wanted to come back home. I wanted to come and go straight to work. I felt a sense of this is what I’d got this degree for and what better time to be part of this particular sector than now. It was incredible the way the whole world was celebrating all key workers, and I wanted to be one of those, and I knew I could help,” she said. “There’s no better time for me to be Miss England and helping England at the time of need,” she added.
