Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi directs senior officials of more than 30 state waqf boards to ensure strict and honest implementation of lockdown

Union Minister for Minority Affairs & Chairman, Central Waqf Council, Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today interacted with senior officials of more than 30 state waqf boards through video conferencing and directed them to ensure strict and honest implementation of lockdown, curfew, and social distancing in view of Corona pandemic during the holy month of Ramadan, which will begin from 24th April.

Restriction in the Month of Ramadan

Union Minister for Minority Affairs & Chairman of the Central Waqf Council, Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today interacted with senior officials from more than 30 state waqf boards by video conferencing and advised them to ensure the strict and truthful enforcement of lockout, curfew, and social distancing in view of the Corona pandemic during the holy month of Ramadan, beginning on 24 April. It should be noted that more than 7 lakh licensed Mosques, Eidgah, Imambada, Dargah and other holy, social institutions are put under the national waqf boards. The Central Waqf Council is India's administrative body for local waqf boards.

Shri Naqvi said on the occasion that we would collaborate with emergency officials, armed forces, administrative officers, community professionals; they strive for our protection and well-being, even by placing their own lives at risk in this pandemic in Corona. We can also demolish myths and misconceptions regarding quarantine and isolation centers by increasing people's consciousness that such centers are intended just to shield individuals, their families and community from the corona pandemic. 

Shri Naqvi instructed all state waqf boards and religious and social organizations that any kind of false news and conspiracies aimed at generating confusion should be kept vigilant. The authorities have been operating without prejudice for the health and well-being of all the country's people. These rumors and conspiracies hinder the fight against Corona. Senior They will work together to win this war against Corona by countering rumor, speculation, and deception of some sort.

Shri Naqvi said that because of the Corona pandemic, religious leaders and religious and social organizations from all sections of the world appealed to the people to give prayers and conduct all other religious rites that remain in their homes during the holy month of Ramadan and strictly observe the lockdown and social distance guidelines. Many of the world's Muslim nations also already prohibited public assembly during the holy month of Ramadan at mosques and other religious sites.

Shri Naqvi said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in cooperation with all the State Governments, has been working effectively for the safety and well-being of the people. The cooperation of the people has brought great relief to India in the war against Corona. But still, several challenges are there before the country. We can defeat these challenges of the Corona pandemic by following all the guidelines of the Central and state governments strictly and honestly in toto. Shri Naqvi appealed to the people to follow the guidelines of lockdown and social distancing and perform all religious rituals of Ramadan staying inside their home. We should also pray that India and the entire world get rid of the Corona pandemic. Senior officials from state waqf boards such as Uttar Pradesh (Shia & Sunni), Andhra Pradesh, Bihar (Shia & Sunni), Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar, Assam, Manipur, Rajasthan, Telangana, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand and others participated in the video conferencing.
