Mumbai Police greets people

Maharashtra Day is celebrated in the Indian state of Maharashtra on 1 May every year to commemorate the State formation day. 

On this day, the Mumbai Police greeted the people and assured security amid COVID-19 lockdown. On Instagram they shared a post captioned as "Any state is known for its people, so service to the people is service to the state! On the occasion of Maharashtra Day, we assure that we will never fall short in this state service. Best wishes!"


Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Friday said that the biggest challenge before the state government was to free the state from the coronavirus pandemic and improve its economic growth rate. In his televised address on the 60th foundation day of Maharashtra, Koshyari said the government was doing its best to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. Maharashtra has the highest number of COVID-19 positive cases at 10,498.

The Health Ministry reported the total number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 35,043 on Friday as the death toll touched 1,147 in the country.
