Birth Annivversary of Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore, a literary scholar, polymath, author, composer, and artist, is well known for writing the national anthem of two countries, India and Bangladesh, and his work inspired the Sri Lankan anthem, yet the scholar has several other achievements to his credit and is fondly remembered across the world.

Born Robindronath Thakur, the writer also went by his pen name Bhanu Singha Thakur on 7 May 186 and is well known for reshaping Bengali literature and music, as well as Indian poetry. May 7 is observed as the Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti, the anniversary of the birth of Rabindranath Tagore and this year is the 160th year since the birth of the poet.

It is noteworthy that Tagore has a dinosaur named after him, too.
