S Murukan helps destitute and mentally ill people amid lockdown

NGO run by S Murukan is helping destitute and those with mental illness in Alappuzha, Kerala. So far, they have rescued 720 people during COVID-19 lockdown.

Murugan rescues people with mental illness

Theruvoram is an NGO founded by Murukan S Theruvoram, a social worker, for the rehabilitation of street people in Kochi, Kerala. with the help of Kerala police, he has rescued 720 destitute and mentally ill people.

When asked Murugan says, "I'm an auto-driver. I also run NGO Theruvoram where we help destitute in rehabilitation. We've rescued 720 ppl during lockdown with help of Kerala police."

When rescued the people are first given a proper haircut and bath. They are also given food, clothes and then sent to the rehabilitation centre.

Midhun, Circle Inspector at Mararikulam, Kerala said "We are just helping Murukan who runs the NGO to rehabilitate the rescued destitute & those with mental illness. They are first given a proper haircut & bath. They are also given food, clothes and then sent to rehabilitation centre."
