Sita Navami is a festival celebrated on the 9th day of the Shukla Paksha. This day is the birth anniversary of holy Goddess Sita, the wife of Lord Vishnu’s seventh avatar Lord Ram. Sita' name originated from the word 'Sit' which means a plowed land in Sanskrit. Goddess Sita is known by several other names such as Janki, Bhumi, and Maithili.

Goddess Sita is an ideal wife for Rama. On this day married women across the country observe fast and pray for the long life of their husbands.
