MHRD launches SWAYAMPrabha Free DTH Channel Subscription for students during Lockdown

SWAYAMPrabha: Students can subscribe to the SWAYAMPrabha Free DTH Channel launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The SWAYAMPrabha Free DTH Channel Subscription is available with 32 channels. SWAYAM Prabha aims to improve full student learning skills through various DTH platforms. SWAYAMPrabha e-classes essentially telecast educational programs to make the students stay at home during the nationwide lockdown.

What is all about SWAYAMPrabha?

Union HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', took the initiative as the MHRD launched e-classes for the students on the DTH channels of SWAYAMPrabha in view of the ongoing lockdown. This initiative was launched ahead of the students skipping school classes because of the COVID-19 outbreak. Students can stay connected with the studies via an interactive medium. SWAYAMPrabha offers 32 DTH channels that are telecasted through the GSAT-15 satellite. SWAYAMPrabha 's content partners include prominent educational institutions such as NPTEL, IITs, UGC, CEC, IGNOU, NCERT, and NIOS. It is the responsibility of the INFLIBNET Centre to maintain the SWAYAMPrabha web portal.

Who will benefit from SWAYAMPrabha e-classes?

Candidates who benefit through SWAYAMPrabha e-classes are 

  • Senior Secondary Students

  • Students of higher education level

Senior Secondary Students: SWAYAMPrabha concentrates on grooming students, but it also brings modules for teacher training and teaching and learning aids for children. Such teaching aids would help the teachers prepare students for the rigorous tests needed to obtain admission to technical degree courses

 

Students of higher education level: The DTH e-classes provide curriculum-based training and learning for learners at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels. Students from disciplines such as the arts, science, economics, performing arts, social sciences, and humanities, engineering, technology, law, medicine, agriculture, etc. will be given access to the required content through SWAYAMPrabha channel.
