Today, the first batch of 326 Indians stranded in the UK due to the COVID-19 linked global travel restrictions arrived in Mumbai. Press Trust of India reported that the special evacuation Air India flight landed at at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) at around 1.30 am with 326 Indians
The passengers with symptoms will be moved to isolation centres and asymptomatic passengers living in Mumbai will be moved to quarantine facilities such as hotels. Press Trust of India reported that those from other cities will be transported by the state to their respective district headquarters.
On Monday, the Government of India announced that it will begin phased repatriation of its citizens stranded abroad from May 7.
Air India will function 64 flights in the first week from May 7 to May 13 to repatriate 15,000 Indian citizens.
