Indian Army on Fake News, Army not Stationed in Mumbai to Enforce Lockdown

Meanwhile, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray said Thursday that the lockdown could be prolonged until the end of May, especially in the Mumbai and Pune regions.

The Indian Army on Monday dismissed some messages circulated on social media regarding the possible declaration of emergency next month in the country to cope with the coronavirus epidemic as "fake." Army officials have said no move is being made to rope military personnel, the National Cadet Corps, and the volunteers participating in the National Service Program in the wake of the coronavirus crisis. Meanwhile, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray said Thursday that the lockdown could be prolonged until the end of May, especially in the Mumbai and Pune regions. Both cities have so far produced 90 percent of the cases in Maharashtra. The Home Ministry confirmed expanded lockdown would end on May 17. Military Lockdown cannot be implemented and fake news is subject to be prosecuted.
