Assam Ration Card:

The Assam Government, through the Nation Food Security Act Public Distribution Scheme (PDS), 2013 issues ration cards to some state families. A ration card is a document that allows low-income families (as determined by PDS) to use food grains at a subsidized rate or below the poverty line. Ration cards are now being issued at Assam under the NFSA Scheme.

What are the types of Ration Card in Assam?

Ration card is an important tool for poor people & middle-class subsistence. Ration card offers proof of identification and a link to the database from the Government. What is Eligibility to get Assam Ration Card?

Citizens who wish to avail of a ration card must be eligible enough to own one. They must know the eligibility criteria before submitting the application form. The eligibility details of the newly issued ration card are mentioned below:

A person without Ration Card: The eldest woman in a family who is a bonafide citizen of the country with an annual family income of less than Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees One lakh) may apply for a new Ration Card under NFSA'13, provided that the individual meets all the requirements for eligibility under NFSa'13 as a beneficiary. The eldest male person may apply for the same in the absence of an adult female member within the family.

Duplicate Ration Card: The competent authority may issue duplicate ration card after charging the appropriate fee in the event that the Ration Card is lost or become defaced, mutilated, illegible or otherwise rendered unless, for no fault of the ration card holder.

Person having Ration Card at the previous place: This applies in the case of individuals who are transferred from one place to another. In this situation, the Surrender Certificate is needed from FCS&CA authority concerned of the place from which the person previously resided. This document should be attached along with the application form for a ration card.

After Marriage entry must be done in the ration card: In this case, a deletion certificate from the previous place of residence, issued by FCS&CA authority, is also required. This document is to be attached together with the application form for a ration card and the ration card.

In case of the birth of a child: To be added to the ration card, the child's birth certificate is required along with the ration card in which the addition must be made along with the application that has been neatly handwritten or typed on a plain paper addressed to the FCS&CA authority.

  • Visit the PDS website

  • Click on PDS stakeholders", and then click "In States 

  • Once you select District Food and Supply Officer, click on FPS Dealers

  • Then click on the state 

  • On the new window select district and block/Tehsil

  • Then select view report

  • From the district page, you can search for the department and even you can locate the contact details  

  • You can visit the office and get the application form

  • Fill all the mandatory details on the application form

  • Attach the documents and submit your application form

  • Collect the receipt of the application from the concerned authority

  • If there is no objection with your application, you will receive your ration card via post in a few weeks
