Facebook-owned company Whatsapp tried several measures to control. people who spread false and malicious information have been using this app effectively over the years. WhatsApp Messenger: Spread of Fake News

WhatsApp started an active campaign to control the spread of fake news. Messages with the Forwarded label help you determine if your friend or relative wrote the message. It is forwarded from one user to another more than five times and it is indicated with a double arrow icon. 

Photos, audio recordings, and videos can be edited and the sources is being reported elsewhere. 
Many messages you receive containing hoaxes or it may be even fake news have spelling mistakes. WhatsApp recently informed about hoax messages. Sometimes forwarded messages can seem helpful or even harmless especially if they come from family and friends.
