What is TN E-Pass?

TN ePass is given only to citizens in the state who have either of the crises or cope with the flow of vital resources. TN E-Pass for flight mandatory for travelling within TN:

Government order was issued by the State government of Tamil Nadu. As per this Government order, e-passes for domestic air passengers flying to and inside TN have been made compulsory. It is understood the Centre recently gave permission to resume flight services. Later TN provided Standard Operating Procedure to be adopted by the airports and air crafts. RT-PCR testing will be mandatory for those who enter TN from Delhi, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, etc. A significant point is that those foreign passengers who come to TN should have paid for 7 days of institutional quarantine, and this would be mandatory.

Aircraft Operations Difficulties:

As per the sources at Chennai Airport said aircraft operations will be difficult, as many states have placed restrictions on Chennai flights. With Kolkata operations resuming from May 28 and Telengana likely to allow air operations from May 26, a restriction has been imposed on flight operations from Chennai. It is known that Hyderabad has approved no more than 15 incoming flights and 15 departures per day, while Mumbai has decided not to exceed 25 incoming flights and 25 departures per day.

All other Maharashtra airports are to handle 33 percent of their capacity. Spicejet has opened bookings from Chennai to Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bagdogra, Guwahati, Coimbatore, Madurai, Delhi and Bengaluru. Indigo airlines have opened Chennai-Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru reservations. Similarly, Vistara opened bookings to Mumbai and Delhi from Chennai.

  • Visit the TN Epass official website https://tnepass.tnega.org/#/user/pass

  • Enter your mobile number and enter the number shown in the box.

  • Then click on OTP 

  • You will receive an OTP on your mobile

  • Enter the OTP

  • Now you will three options on the screen.

  • Select the Option Domestic Flight.

  • Now enter all the necessary details

  • From the Airport Option, select the state.

  • Then click on Next

  • On clicking you need to enter the details asked in the Where To Field.

  • After filling all the details, click on submit

  • You will get the TN Epass for flight 

What are the Guidelines issued by TN Govt?

It is mandatory for all the domestic air travellers flying into Tamil Nadu to register their details online in TNePass Portal. After obtaining the flight tickets, the travellers shall register their details in TN e-pass portal following the link https://tnepass.tnega.org duly selecting the airport of arrival in Tamil Nadu. In TN e-pass portal select Flight/Train- registration, fill in their details, and Submit.

2. The passenger while applying for TNe-pass shall give the declaration to the following effect, for getting TNe-pass:-

i) I/We am/are not residing in any containment zone

ii) I/We am/are not suffering from any fever/cough/ any respiratory distress.

iii) I/We am/are not under quarantine.

iv) If I/We develop any of the above-mentioned symptoms I shall contact the concerned health authorities, immediately.

v) I/We have not tested COVID-19 positive in last two months.

vi) I/We am/are eligible to travel as per the extant norms.

vii) I/We make my mobile number/contact details available to the TNe-pass.

viii) I/We understand that if I/We undertake the air journey on false information, without meeting the eligibility criteria, I/We would be liable to penal action.

ix) I/We undertake to adhere to the health protocol and quarantine norms prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

3. If more than one person travels in a group, the details of all persons shall be entered using the ‘add family member’ option in the TNePass Portal.

4. Travel permit will be issued with a QR Code in the registered mobile number/ email.

5. The Airline staff shall insist on the details of entry pass obtained from TNe-pass before issuing the boarding pass. A separate request has been made to the airlines and operators regarding this.

6. Travellers can use their own vehicle or rented vehicle for travel from the airport to their home. The vehicle number must be indicated in the Portal.

7. Travellers on arrival in Tamil Nadu airport shall show the details of registration in the TN e-Pass registration desk at the Airport. Passengers who are without entry in TN ePass will not be permitted to move out without making entry. District Collectors shall make available necessary infrastructure in the exit gates of airports to check and take followup action on this.

8. After undergoing medical screening for any symptoms of COVID-19, asymptomatic persons shall undergo home quarantine for 14 days. Travellers who register for institutional quarantine shall be sent for institutional quarantine (Government or Paid facility)

9. All persons entering the State shall remain under home quarantine for 14 days from the date of arrival. However, if the individual does not have facilities for home quarantine, he will be sent to institutional quarantine. He should indicate the same in the TNePass portal.

10. Pick up vehicles for arriving passengers will be permitted to enter Airport with one person (excluding driver of the vehicle) at a designated place subject to social distancing norms. If the persons who pick up the passenger comes into physical contact with the traveller, they shall also remain under Home Quarantine for 14 days.

What are the Guidelines issued by TN Govt to Airport Authorities?

All airports should have infrarot thermometers in place to check passenger temperature.

To keep a social distance at the airport, a proper queue should be maintained at all times.

Airport officials who interact directly with the passengers are to use protective gears, PPE, and face masks.

At the airport all luggage must be disinfected. 

Any official at the airport who faces any symptoms of COVID-19 infection should be tested immediately via RT-PCR test.

Passengers will be sent according to social distancing guidelines to health check-up desks in a group of 20.

All of these measures listed by the government of Tamil Nadu should be adhered to by all passengers so as to avoid any possible transmission. It should be noted that the protocol will be strictly enforced after two months of being suspended after the airlines resume operations.
